About

"Exploring what it means to grow up — and old — in all its many forms."

I'm A.M. Hussong, a creative writer working across a range of forms and ages. My work spans children's picture books, middle grade fantasy, young adult realistic fiction, and literary short stories.

I grew up in Indiana and now call North Carolina home. Wherever I've lived, I've found myself drawn to the same question: what does it mean to grow up? That question shows up in everything I write — in the children navigating first friendships, in the young adults facing unexpected crossroads, in the adults wondering how they got here and where they're still going.

I also write non-fiction for public audiences on parenting, human development, and well-being, bringing the same curiosity and care I bring to fiction. You can find that work — along with information about my professional and collaborative projects — over at fjcolab.org.
